The Needlewoman began in 1991, when Proprietor Christine James entered her embroidery into a contest at The Northern California Dicken's Faire, and won first prize.  She has entered her embroidery three times in the United States Costume Convention Historical Division and won awards all three times in the Master Division.

Christine prides herself on effectively communicating with clients in order to present them with a piece of embroidery that is not only visually stunning, but supercedes her clients wishes.  She enjoys completing jobs in a timely manner.

Christine is a member of the San Francisco Greater Bay Area Costumer's Guild, and has taught classes as well as organized costume events for over seven years.  She has just completed her seventh year as a San Francisco Greater Bay Area Costumer's Guild Board member.  She has partnered with Dark Garden, a corsetry shop, to embellish their beautiful corsets into embroidered garden trellises, bouquets of spring flowers and gothic delights.

The Needlewoman's clients are known for their appreciation for Christine's work and copious praise for her detailed rendition of famous embroidered clothing and patterns from around the world.  Do you have a Wedding Gown which needs to be embroidered or beaded?  Do you have a corset that you would like to have embellished just for you?  Do you need Celtic knot work design for an event?  Have your clothing embroidered into priceless heirlooms by the Needlewoman.
