Payment Rates & Terms

Christine James is a Master Embroiderer, and her rates are astounding considering the quality of her work, and the fact that every order you place is a custom order only for you.  See below for her extremely reasonable rates for either custom embroidery or bridal consultations regarding your wedding day:

Rates: 
$25 an hour for up to 15 hours
$20 an hour for 16-60 hours
$18 an hour for 60+ hours

Samples:  If you would like a sample swatch made of your pattern, design or colors, there is a minimum $25 charge.  Price of the swatch will be refunded off any order over $400.

Terms: A 15 minute consultation is free!  50% non-refundable deposit upon placement of order, and 100% pre-payment for all materials, with a final payment due upon completion of the item.  Receipts for material purchases are provided for your records.  After the final payment is received and the check or money order clears the bank, the item will be sent via US mail with a signed postal receipt affixed to your package.  Please note: The Needlewoman does not offer custom dress making or alteration services at this time.  In addition, The Needlewoman does not offer custom corsets for sale - only the embellishment of corsets.  Please see the Links page for Corset makers.

The Needlewoman does not have a wedding catalog.

Payment: Each order is payable via personal check or money order. Orders which are paid by personal check will be placed on hold for 10 days until the check clears.  Once the check clears, Christine will begin work on your item.

Progress reports: Christine is pleased to contact you with reports as your order progresses.  Her standard procedure is to inform the client about the stages of completion during 25%, 50%, 75% and final realization of the work via email or telephone.

Contract: For each custom order, there is a written contract (see below) which needs to be filled out and signed.  Pending a signature and payment, the order will be held for a maximum of 30 days.  After 30 days, the contract will be considered null and void, and any necessary items will be returned.

I understand the terms for placing an order with the Needlewoman are as follows:

A)  A 50% non-refundable deposit is due upon placement of order.

D) Custom orders are not refundable.  Orders of merchandise may be returned for credit within 3 days, provided the item is in unused condition.

E) All shipping costs (insurance, certified mail, express delivery, etc) are not refundable.
